As a non-aligned local Community Group we are happy to discuss with any political party our ambitions for ongoing active travel improvements for incorporation into party manifestos for the 2026 Mayoral and Council elections.
This Council term has seen some useful developments in the borough with Deptford Church Street currently being remodelled for safer walking and cycling, the ever-increasing popularity of dockless cycles, the continuing roll-out of secure cycle hangers, the implementation of a number of new protected crossing points on main roads and rapid roll-out of School Streets.
We are also encouraged by the recent adoption by the Council of a comprehensive Active Travel Strategy, which we strongly support, but there is much still to do in the next Council term to trigger step changes in the number of people walking and cycling across the Borough.
