A possible World Record in Prospect

  • by

If you have been on some of our rides over the past year, you may have had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Sidney and Mary. They are a lovely couple of riders, always smiling, with a great zest for life, energy and sense of fun. The kind of people a ride leader loves to have along, they get on with everyone, and stay cheerful, even if things don’t always go quite as planned.

Well, you may be interested to know that Sidney, who, over his lifetime of more than eighty years now, has cycled many more miles than the rest of us, I should imagine, and many tougher, harder and hillier ones in the past than many of us could manage, is preparing for another tough challenge in his cycling career.

On Friday 5th September, at Lee Valley Olympic Velodrome, Sidney will be attempting to set the hour record for over 80 year olds. And if any of you wish to go and cheer him on you would be very welcome.
