Lewisham Council closed Cold Blow Lane in Deptford to motorised traffic in July 2024 under an experimental traffic order. This road with its narrow pavements and tunnels used to be very hazardous for pedestrians and cyclists. With five schools in the area, parents with buggies and children walking through the tunnels were at serious risk with motorised traffic passing dangerously close to them.
Show your support for scenes similar to the above by responding to the Lewisham Council survey before 31st January 2025, to ensure the tunnels remains reserved for walking, wheeling and cycling in the future.
Also please go along to the next Community Play Street in the tunnels on Sunday 26th January between 2pm and 4pm with a Lewisham Cyclists Dr Bike and lots of other fun activities for all the family.
The survey only takes a couple of minutes to complete, responding ‘Strongly Agree’ to the three questions. Adding further comments is optional but if you wish to here are a few bullet points:
- Reserve the tunnels for local residents walking, wheeling and cycling.
- Introduce a safe pedestrian and cycle crossing over Sanford Street.
- Improve the environment in the lane & tunnels with better lighting, murals and widened pavements.
