Give south-east London cyclists a Xmas present by supporting Southwark Council in making the section of Cycleway 4 through Surrey Quays permanent. This consultation only takes five minutes to complete and needs your active support as we are expecting significant opposition to retention of the scheme. Southwark’s monitoring shows the route has been incredibly successful with a whopping 57% increase in cycling since spring 2023! Make sure the route is… Read More »Survey on retention of C4 At Surrey Quays needs your support

We recently sent out the following News Release to a number of South London publications: Local cycling group challenges Landsec claims Lewisham Shopping Centre redevelopment will provide ‘accessible green space and public realm.’ Lewisham Cyclists have called for Lewisham Council and Transport for London (TfL) to work with Landsec, the owners of Lewisham Shopping Centre, to dramatically improve space for active travel in and around the site when they redevelop… Read More »News Release regarding Lewisham Shopping Centre Redevelopment

Keep Cold Blow Lane Safe for Walking, Wheeling & Cycling – Respond to Survey Before 31/1/25

Lewisham Council closed Cold Blow Lane in Deptford to motorised traffic in July 2024 under an experimental traffic order. This road with its narrow pavements and tunnels used to be very hazardous for pedestrians and cyclists. With five schools in the area, parents with buggies and children walking through the tunnels were at serious risk with motorised traffic passing dangerously close to them. Show your support for scenes similar to… Read More »Keep Cold Blow Lane Safe for Walking, Wheeling & Cycling – Respond to Survey Before 31/1/25

Lewisham Centre Redevelopment Planning Application – Wholly unsatisfactory for cyclists

They may claim they are improving connections but we believe that, for people on cycles, these plans for the redevelopment of the Lewisham Centre are incoherent, badly thought through and unnecessarily restrictive. The very people that the Developer should be encouraging to use cycles to access the new shops and services will be deterred from cycling and will resort to motorised transport. Here we are talking about families, the elderly,… Read More »Lewisham Centre Redevelopment Planning Application – Wholly unsatisfactory for cyclists

The hazardous roundabout… Read More »Deptford Church Street – Cycle Lanes under construction

Catford to Forest Hill (C2FH) walking and cycling route update March 2024

The original proposal to create a walking and cycling route from the Waterlink Way just south of Catford to Forest Hill via Elm Lane goes back to 2014.  The most direct route between Catford and Forest Hill is the South Circular road which is heavily trafficked at most times of the day and very inhospitable for walking and cycling. This proposed alternative route uses quiet back roads and off-road cut-throughs… Read More »Catford to Forest Hill (C2FH) walking and cycling route update March 2024
