Tragic News

  • by

It’s only a few weeks since we posted some words in memory of one young man, killed by a dangerous driver on a Lewisham street, Olatunji Johnson Adeyanju, (also known as T.J) and the bravery and dignity of his family even in their grief.  And now another family, on another stretch of our borough’s roads, face the same sorrow and suffering, another young man gone. We always struggle to find the right words… Read More »Tragic News

Peaks of Lewisham 20th June 2013

  • by

Must be about the fourth time we have done this ride- it’s becoming a Bike Week classic. 20 of us at Cutty Sark Gardens. A good number aged from ten to about 60, diverse group of cyclists, set off on a fine summer evening. Everyone pootled through the back streets and pleasant bit of the Waterlink Way, then our first and least picturesque ascent, Friendly St. Our youngest member decided… Read More »Peaks of Lewisham 20th June 2013

  • by

It’s that time of year again. Long, light evenings. Warm nights with any luck. Just the time for a long ride on quiet country lanes from London to the coast. It’s Dunwich Dynamo time! This year, Lewisham Cyclists will be leading a short feeder to get you to the traditional starting point, the Pub on the Park in Hackney Fields. Details of that are on our rides page. We might… Read More »Dunwich Dynamo July 20 2013: The Countdown Begins

Results of TfL’s consultation on Cycle Superhighway 5

  • by

Out today is TfL’s response to the consultation on CS5, to which Lewisham Cyclists submitted a response back when the consultation was put out. Read it here I haven’t had time to do more than skim it yet. However, I did notice that they have commented on Lewisham Cyclists group submission, but neglected to record our disappointment at the fact they decided to leave most of Lewisham out! They do… Read More »Results of TfL’s consultation on Cycle Superhighway 5

A lovely ride in Kent

  • by

Ten of us met at London Bridge on a dull but dry morning. After a 40 minute journey, we arrived in Paddock Wood and headed out almost immediately on the first of the tiny, practically traffic free country lanes that criss cross this quiet part of Kent. This ride covers the wide flat flood plain of the Beult River and is mainly farmland, orchards and old oast houses, a reminder… Read More »A lovely ride in Kent

Another Afterworker

  • by

Four of us left the hustle of London Bridge on a dull, grey evening that threatened rain, but never carried out that threat. Pleasantly warm, too. Ideal evening for an extended commute. We hopped over Tower Bridge easily, down to St Katharine’s Dock where a fifth rider was waiting on the other side of the bridge. The bridge was up, to allow a fine old Thames barge through, quite a… Read More »Another Afterworker

Here’s a few of us  with the view from Tilburstow Hill behind.  Check out the Ride Reports page for more.
