Surrey Hills Winter Edition December 2013

  • by

I have been a bit remiss in completing ride reports recently…but having been told at the Greenwich Christmas Quiz that at least a few people enjoy them, I will start again. I rode to Clapham Junction under blue skies streaked with thin threads of pure white cloud, a beautiful clear winter light flooding the Common. A great 6 miles to start the day I was expecting at least half a… Read More »Surrey Hills Winter Edition December 2013

Transforming City Streets with a Paintbrush

  • by

Whenever you meet with TfL’s highly trained and intelligent road engineers to discuss cycling infrastructure, they will often baffle you with their references to traffic modelling systems that show them just how impossible it is to take the kind of road space from cars for other road users that we ask for.  They will quote surveys and projections of future traffic flow needs at you that can leave a simple… Read More »Transforming City Streets with a Paintbrush

Thursday Afterworkers

Unfortunately, I can’t manage to run an afterworker tonight.  Probably won’t be able to until the 25th.  Which is a shame as the upcoming weather looks to be beautiful.  Nothing to stop the rest of you riding off into the sunset after work, though! If things change, I may post an impromptu evening ride up- so watch this space or the FB page.  Or the Yahoo group elists.

Get out on Your Bike, Lovely Weather. Even the Rain Feels Good

  • by

See, here are a few Lewisham Cyclists enjoying our wonderful Peaks of Lewisham ride.  The 2012 version anyway- gazing at the stunning view from Telegraph Hill, the first of many on that particular ride. I am more than a little annoyed that I forgot my camera this year, because the views were probably the best we have had yet.  Magical, setting sun casting it’s ever deepening golden glow over the… Read More »Get out on Your Bike, Lovely Weather. Tragic News

  • by

It’s only a few weeks since we posted some words in memory of one young man, killed by a dangerous driver on a Lewisham street, Olatunji Johnson Adeyanju, (also known as T.J) and the bravery and dignity of his family even in their grief.  And now another family, on another stretch of our borough’s roads, face the same sorrow and suffering, another young man gone. We always struggle to find the right words… Read More »Tragic News

Peaks of Lewisham 20th June 2013

Must be about the fourth time we have done this ride- it’s becoming a Bike Week classic. 20 of us at Cutty Sark Gardens. A good number aged from ten to about 60, diverse group of cyclists, set off on a fine summer evening. Everyone pootled through the back streets and pleasant bit of the Waterlink Way, then our first and least picturesque ascent, Friendly St. Our youngest member decided… Read More »Peaks of Lewisham 20th June 2013

It’s that time of year again. Long, light evenings. Warm nights with any luck. Just the time for a long ride on quiet country lanes from London to the coast. It’s Dunwich Dynamo time! This year, Lewisham Cyclists will be leading a short feeder to get you to the traditional starting point, the Pub on the Park in Hackney Fields. Details of that are on our rides page. We might… Read More »Dunwich Dynamo July 20 2013: The Countdown Begins
