AGM Minutes available to view

We had quite a lively, informative and interesting AGM.  A big thank you to those who turned up and made it so. You can read the minutes by clicking on AGM minutes May 2012 on the Minutes tab on this site. Quite a few things arose out of it.  As a result of one issue in Any Other business, it seems that some are deeply unhappy with the Deptford junctions… Read More »AGM Minutes available to view

Peaks of Lewisham 2012

  • by

Fifteen of us on the ride, including the imps from over the river – a bit less than last year but the doom-laden weather forecasts had clearly put some off. The usual motley collection of bikes for our Bike Week meander, including a fixie and a recumbent. Amongst a good sprinkling of regulars there were a lot of new folk as well, which is always good. Bob on the recumbent… Read More »Peaks of Lewisham 2012

Kelvedon Circular Saturday March 3rd 2012

  • by

Kelvedon Circular Ride Saturday May 3rd 2012 Just six of us headed off on the train to Kelvedon.  I had received several texts and a couple of calls in the week from people who liked the idea of a jaunt in Essex. Then, a couple more that morning, informing me that the weekend’s forecast had dissuaded them.  Well, a word to the weathershy.  Clouds threatened rain (which never actually… Read More »Kelvedon Circular Saturday March 3rd 2012

Love Your Bike Part 2!

  • by

I have been checking out the new Bike Week 2012 website (don’t worry, it’s not till June!) and found this very useful page where Helen Pidd summarises in 10 handy points exactly how you can love your bike and make it work for you a whole lot better and longer. http://www.bikeweek.org.uk/page.php?id=80 I would second every single point on this list.  It’s exactly what I, and most of the experienced cyclists… Read More »Love Your Bike Part 2!

Love Your Bike!

  • by

I have just received my copy of Lewisham Life through the door and was reminded in the small ad section,  of an excellent offer provided by Lewisham Council.  A whole day’s cycle maintenance course, delivered by the excellent CTUK, for just ten pounds.                               If you are one of those many individuals I meet each year on the rides I lead, who confess to absolute befuddlement when confronted by even minor… Read More »Love Your Bike!

Flash ride 6.15pm Wednesday 22 February Parliament Square

  • by

The Cyclists in the City blog has suggested we all turn up for this and show MPs that the Cyclesafe campaign is about more than just training. Come and tell them to make cycling a legitimate mode of transport not just a training issue. flashride-wednesday-22-february-615.html

Golding Hop – Saturday February 5

  • by

Golding Hop 5th February Twelve of us, including folks at Catford, Bromley and Otford. Slow progress at times which made me a bit nervous about hitting the Golding Hop’s increasingly narrow lunch window of a mere 90 minutes. No real events or mishaps en route, though two dropped out before lunch and some were bemused by a  route that took us through Leigh twice – hey it’s a scenic bike… Read More »Golding Hop – Saturday February 5

New plans for Bow: is TfL really listening at last?

  • by

So, 2011 is over.  As 2012 gets going, TfL has finally come forward with some new plans for the Bow roundabout.  I checked into the excellent Cyclists in the City blog and found news of a press release from TfL announcing that they are considering two options.  One is to introduce an advanced phase for cyclists in the lights so that they can get away ahead of the rest of… Read More »New plans for Bow: is TfL really listening at last?
